Sometimes, our household products can almost discourage us from keeping our homes, workplaces, and our other favorite haunts in tiptop shape. Picking up paper towels and ammonia-based cleaners to wipe down our kitchen tables, for example, may remind us of deforestation as well as the harmful chemicals in our everyday products leaching into our bodies. Luckily for us, however, there are so many products out on the market that are eco-friendly as well as safe for our health!
Hereย areย a few of the eco-friendly brands free of harsh chemicals I like to use in my daily routine without harming the environment or my health.
1) Ology
Found in your local Walgreens or Duane Reade, this drugstore brand has literally everything, from window cleaners to paper-free toilet โpaperโ to laundry detergent. The best part, however, is that everything contains no harsh and harmful chemicals, such as parabens, sulfates, dyes, phthalates, making this line safe for you and your family.
As an added bonus, they even have their own personal care items, such as facial moisturizer, bath soaps, and shampoo!
Recommended product: the Ology Citrus Dish Detergent ($3.39)
2) Seventh Generation
This brand is unique in the meaning behind its name. According to their website, the name symbolizes the brandโs mission to โinspire a consumer revolution that nurtures the health of the next seven generations.โ In addition to its eco-friendly products, this brand also offers its consumers a โSustainability Reportโ each year to show consumers statistics and other data on the company, such as the amount of energy saved, percentages of recycled materials, and even the gender equity of employees. Transparency, green products, and affordable prices โ what else could you ask for?
Recommended product: the Seventh Generation All Purpose Natural cleaner โ Free & Clear ($3.49)
3) Green Works
If youโre looking for naturally-derived cleaning products, look no further. A branch of the well-known Clorox Company, Green Works cleaning products contain between 95-99% naturally-derived ingredients. Unlike other companies that may simply use the word โnaturalโ as advertisement, however, Green Works offers a clear cut definition of โnaturalโ on its website to its customers as: โ1) contain natural ingredients, 2) avoid any ingredients with suspected human health risks, 3) use no animal testing and 4) use biodegradable ingredients along with environmentally sustainable packaging.โ
Recommended product: the Green Works Compostable Cleaning Wipes ($2.99)
Obviously these are just three out of the many different brands out there. What are some of your favorite eco-friendly products and brands?
